A snapshot of American outbound tourism 2016

As per the latest statistics released by U.S. National Travel and Tourism Office, more than 2.3 million US citizens travelled overseas last year November with no change in the number of US overseas trips in 2015. The first 11 months of 2016 saw 31.8 million overseas travels by US citizens which is 6 percent up year-to-date. 44 percent US outbound international travel took place all through November last year and 56 percent of them visited only to Canada and Mexico.
Caribbean and Europe were the most popular places all through November last year with 27 percent of all international travel. However, arrival of US nationals at Caribbean dropped a bit by 4 percent with central and South American arrivals by 11 and 13 percent respectively. Oceania witnessed the greatest growth of 8 percent with more than 62,000 travelers in November 2016. Approximately 751,000 US travelers visited Europe with six percent increase while 436,000 visitors entered Asia with four percent year-over-year increase.
